Physician, Heal Thyself

By Patricia Lefave, Labelled, D.D.(P)

It is not what you say you believe in that matters as much as what you demonstrate you believe in.

If you model equality, you are teaching equality.

If you model power and control over others, a superior/inferior split, one standard for you, and another for me, you are modelling and teaching domination and submission as a desirable norm.

We can only really teach by example because it is both a demonstration of self control, and the method used for blocking the attempts of others to control us. It defines our personal space.

If your personal example, your model, is duplicitous, then THAT is what you are teaching, whether you expect anyone to be AWARE of it or not.

That's reality Doc, and It is biting the hands that feeds It. So, physician, heal thyself. When you do, we will all be a lot better off. Even the ''experts.''

Hello Patricia,

I just wanted to offer my thank for your "conversational" support. I'm also pleased to see that Dear Jane has found your blog. I let her know that you're a lovely lady. I remain appreciative of the kindness you extended to me at a time when I was far more wounded than I am now. :)

Meantime, your last few posts have been very timely. I enjoyed the one about "Games". Very Laingian. I hope all is well with you.

I must assume this is someone I know but who is choosing to remain anonymous to me also?
Your choice of course. Whomever you may be, I am happy you are far less wounded now, than then. I am psychospirtually better than ever. My only problems now are strictly of the concrete variety. Take care, S.E.
